Healey production line moves from Warwick to a small farm in Bedfordshire Date: 11 Dec 09
Well not quite. But Classic Restorations have and will continue to rebuild a number of famous Healey motor cars.
Healey Westland GWD 43 - This car first entered the Mille Miglia in 1948 and was driven by Donald Healey.
Taking delivery of the vehicle in October 2007, we found that a number of alterations had been made to the car. Not least of these had the doors opening the wrong way. Hinged at the front. We were approached by a German dealer who had a customer that wanted to enter the Mille Miglia and was interested in buying the car. The deal was completed in March 2008 and work commenced immediately. We had just 14 months to make a new ash frame, fabricate body panels, refurbish the chassis and running gear and rebuild the engine. The car was finished in March 2009.
Apart from a few minor problems the car completed the Mille Miglia eventually finishing in 209th place.See gallery for pictures of the rebuild.
Healey Elliott GUE 722 - Another Mille Miglia car rescued from a garage in Edinburgh
This car was driven by Count Lurani in the 1948 Mille Miglia. The current owner bought the car in the 60's for £25. Now subject to a ground up restoration. See gallery for pictures of this rebuild,
Healey Woodie - Believed to be one of only 2 surviving examples.
Only 17 of these vehicles were produced and no detailed drawings exist. So after an awful lot of research we were able to reproduce the body shape from a number of photographs. Pictures in the gallery.
We are also currently rebuilding 2 Westlands and 1 Abbott and you can see pictures of these rebuilds in our gallery
